CPBI-Sri Lanka was founded and registered in 2005 in response to the Asian tsunami. Since then, CPBI-Sri Lanka has focused its efforts in sponsoring Tamil, Sinhalese and Muslim children affected by the tsunami and providing them with access to schooling.
In 2006, CPBI-Sri Lanka conducted a review of how local agencies can teach international agencies about their response to the Asian tsunami. In 2007, CPBI-Sri Lanka was involved in a Listening Exercise with the Collaborative for Development Alternatives (CDA) to help in a country-wide study on the cumulative impact of foreign assistance in the country.
CPBI-Sri Lanka’s primary focus is on youth and providing them opportunities to be part of a larger peace process.
